The Le Corbusier Chaise Lounge (LC4) is the best known and most successful of his designs that first exhibited at the Salon D' Automne in 1929. The Le Corbusier Chaise Lounge (LC4) was designed in 1928 for the furnishing of a villa in the Ville d' Avray and utilizes exposed structural elements with padded leather cushion and headrest. Le Corbusier was borne Charles Edouard Jeanneret and is widely considered the most important Modernist chair designer in France. As a spirited advocate of Modernism, he created a range of chairs that express his ideas with great sophistication. The Le Corbusier Chaise Lounge (LC4) allows you to select from the various choices of positions for guaranteed comfort.

Along with Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier was the father of Modernism. Born in Switzerland, Le Corbusier had a great interest in the visual arts at an early age. At age 23, he was a prolific designer, and during the time in Berlin, met the famed Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe. It was a meeting that would have a great impact on 20th-century architecture. Le Corbusier devoted his efforts to designing building and environments for urbanism. He called for large blocks of cell-like individual apartments stacked one on top of the other.

The LC4 Chaise is handcrafted in Tuscany by craftsmen using the techniques that provide an exacting specification ensuring that you are receiving an accurate reproduction that you will be able to enjoy for years.

Materials: Chaise, tubular chrome frame and base with hair-on-hide upholstered mattress and leather headrest. Base made of black lacquered steel. Natural hide colors come in combinations of black, white, and/or brown. Color combination and representation will vary with each hide. Customers may specify the chromed element of the chaise in matte or glossy black by request.
