Charles Rennie Mackintosh Square Gate Leg Table

Charles Rennie Mackintosh Square Gate Leg Table

This Charles Rennie Mackintosh table is based on one of the Gateleg Table designs originally submitted to W.J. Bassett-Lowke. The design was rejected at the time and never entered production, leaving it as one of Mackintosh’s unrealized furniture concepts. Bauhaus2YourHouse is proud to offer this piece based on historical drawings and designs by the Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

The table reflects Mackintosh’s distinctive architectural language: disciplined geometry, strong vertical and horizontal lines, and a refined balance between ornament and restraint. Its square top rests on a bold rectilinear base, where repeated stretcher bars create a rhythmic grid-like structure. The result is both functional and sculptural, a table that feels equally at home in a dining room, study, gallery space, or carefully edited modern interior.

More than a reproduction, this table brings an unproduced Mackintosh design into the present day, honoring a rare concept that existed only on paper until now. It is a celebration of Mackintosh’s enduring influence and his ability to turn furniture into architecture on a smaller scale.
